Chicago AUDITIONS
In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband Amos to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess" Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune and acquittal. This sharp edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

Thanks to all of the auditionees for making the decision process an extremely tough one for the production staff. The cast list will be posted on the CHICAGO page later this week.

Performance dates: October 8, 9, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30. Times: Fri/Sat @ 8pm, Sun @ 3pm.

Schoolhouse Rock Live! at KAT 2nd Stage
A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage! The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math, science and politics through clever, tuneful songs is not only making a small-screen comeback, instructing a whole new generation to "Unpack Your Adjectives" and "Do The Circulations," it's lighting up stages everywhere, from school multi-purpose rooms to university and regional theaters all around the country.

Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher nervous about his first day of teaching, tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such beloved Schoolhouse Rock songs as "I'm Just a Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction."

Thanks to all of the auditioness last week who came out to Crossway Community in Wheaton. We have a great cast, and the list will be posted later on in the week.

A contemporary song-cycle musical that ingeniously chronicles the five year life of a marriage, from meeting to break-up... or from break-up to meeting, depending on how you look at it. Written by Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Songs For a New World), The Last 5 Years is an intensely personal look at the relationship between a writer and an actress told from both points of view.

Spring 2011 – The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Music and Lyrics by William Finn
Book by Rachel Sheinkin
Directed by Darnell Morris
Produced by Kevin Garrett

Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
