Appointments are not necessary, and auditionees are taken in the order
that they turn in their information sheets. First, you will need to
sing a prepared up-tempo or ballad (32 bars will suffice -- please use
a contemporary song or one from the musical theater genre, but not from
this show!). We will provide a piano accompanist. You may then be
requested to work some scales or intervals with the music director
to display your range.
**IMPORTANT NOTE: come to auditions wearing whatever you'd like, but please NO HATS OR CAPS.**
Then, at the discretion of the production staff, the auditionees
may be taught a dance or movement routine and/or asked to do cold readings
from the script. Please come dressed appropriately.
Not all auditionees will be asked
to callbacks. This does not mean a person is not cast as some
parts may be cast from the initial auditions.
KAT holds totally open auditions -- no parts are pre-cast --
and all auditionees are invited to watch the audition procedure.
We frequently have 40%-60% newcomers in a show. You may bring a
resume if you would like, and you will be asked to fill out an
information sheet and a conflict calendar so please know your other
commitments ahead of time. A head shot is not required, but feel
free to bring one. We will still take a Polaroid picture so that we
can be sure to remember you as you looked at auditions.
We look forward to seeing you at auditions.
